Medical Update

Not even close to getting an answer

But here’s what happened yesterday

Went to my Rheumatologist appointment as planned. Went in, started talking to her, explaining everything. She looked at me like I was a time bomb, which is normal every doctor does this. She looked at the weird bumps on my skin (they show up where my pain is it’s weird) made an awkward face and poked them like ‘they don’t itch or hurt????’ No they’re just there. Saw my shaking. Described my pain. My nausea/vomit problem. She decided she’s doing a broad blood panel and x-raying my knees (my left knee is what causes most of my grief but she’s looking at the right too just. Cause.) but then she goes “I don’t think your problem is Rheumatoid” and I was like. What. Because EVERYONE IN THE WORLD OTHER THAN YOU THINKS IT IS. but Whatever

THEN. She did the normal ‘listen to you take deep breaths’ thing but. . She stayed there forever. Like 3 minutes. And her eyes were shut. I was looking at my dad like uhhh what is she doing??? and she pulls back and is like “That didn’t sound right.” Which is exactly what you want to hear when someone listens to your heart. She told me my heart sounded like it was skipping beats. I inform her I’ve had a 24 hour monitor, I’ve had an echo, I’ve been scanned, EKGS, blah blah blah. Well, she listens again. Then takes my pulse. Then my Blood Pressure is 120/100. She decides, YOU’RE GOING TO THE CARDIOLOGIST NOW. and she meant. Now. She called my Cardio and I got in like an hour later it was crazy

I get across town, to a different hospital, to see my Cardio. The EKG is normal. My Blood Pressure is 140/90??? They’re still not sure about that one. I might be changing blood pressure meds, I have to go back to recording it daily like I used to JOY. But otherwise, she said that my 24 hour monitor back in July 2012 said I had skipped beats but they were random, not one right after the other, which is normal. She listened, didn’t hear anything. Said she honestly thinks the Rheumatologist jumped to conclusions. So my heart is fine.

Since I haven’t seen her in a long time, I filled her in on everything. She looked at my rash too and she said neurological diseases can cause that to happen, when you have pain that is not skin layer but it causes a rash to appear on your skin. It also follows the pattern of many auto-immune diseases. She said the look of the bumps though don’t match up with anything she’s ever seen though.

She told me she’s 95% sure this its Rheumatoid and I was like “lol the Rheumatologist just told me she said she thinks its NOT.” and my Cardio made this face 8|

Cardio suggested going to UTSouthwest which is a teaching hospital in Fort Worth, it’s near here. She said it’s not the same set up as the Mayo Clinic, but it’s similar in the sense that they have so many doctors on hand all communicating with a ton of subsets you won’t find anywhere else. She told me that I should let this Rheumatologist I’m seeing finish her testing, see what she comes up with, then if she yields nothing, tell my primary I want a second opinion referral for a Rheumatologist at UTS

So you know. I’ll probably get in, in say… May.

Short version of the story - I had about 10 vials of blood taken, my knees got x-rayed, the rheumatologist thinks its not rheumatoid but everyone else thinks it is.

Rheumatologist re-stated that my bloodwork basically says “THERE IS A PROBLEM.” but it does not tell anyone what the problem is. It could be anywhere. Cardiologist told my dad “Well yeah she’s tired all the time she’s sick.” and I tried not to hug her.

And I had to come home and immediately take tramadol cause my leg and my side hurt like fuck all and I didn't think to take my meds with me cause I didn't think I'd be out ALL DAY LONG

The end.

Maybe you have a new disease and you'll get it named after you? .A.

Anyways, I feel depressed for you, you've had this for how long and nobody seems to be able to give you any help. 8|

Still gonna bug you about your a1c. The ten vials (ouch) should show if something's up, that is, if the people aren't idiots.
